Benefit Concert for Ralston Bowles
featuring Jill Jack, Stewart Francke, Mustard's Retreat, David Rossiter, Chris Buhalis, Dave Boutette, Jan Krist, Billy Brandt, Drew Nelson, Annie and Rod Capps and Jen Sygit.

Trinity House Theatre favorite Ralston Bowles was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this year.  Ralston has been a great friend of Trinity House over the last several years so we wanted to join with artists throughout the midwest to host this fundraiser to help with his medical expenses.

We'll be updating this site with a list of the performers that have signed on to perform.  Confirmed performers so far include Jill Jack, Jan Krist, Stewart Francke, Mustard's Retreat, David Rossiter, Annie and Rod Capps, Drew Nelson, Chris Buhalis, Billy Brandt, Jen Sygit and Dave Boutette.  Each will be performing two songs and there are sure to be some covers of Ralston's songs thrown in throughout the night.  Ralston is hoping to be in the audience that night to soak in the great musical performances from so many of his friends.

For those not familiar with Ralston here is a little background.

Ralston Bowles' songwriting has been lauded by many, and his songs have been performed and recorded by Caroline Aiken, Peter Mulvey and Rachael Davis. He received numerous awards for his writing from a variety of organizations including American Songwriter Magazine, NSAI/CMT, Unisong and the ISC (International Song Competition) and As A Kerrville New Folk Finalist. He even found himself opening for such artists as Shawn Colvin, T-Bone Burnett and Arlo Guthrie.

But it was only after years of coaxing he found himself recording his own material with producer Marvin Etzioni. The recording, "Carwreck Conversations", earned him triple Jammy Awards locally and recognition as best musician in West Michigan by Grand Rapids Magazine. It has also opened doors for his doing more outside the Midwest and lead him to his first commercial release through Judy Collins' Wildflower Records.  "Rally At The Texas Hotel" was released last Spring.

“The world is crawling with singer/songwriters who are trying to ‘make it’ in the music business. And then there's Ralston, who probably couldn't care less about ‘making it’, but who writes songs that are better than probably three-fourths of those singer/songwriters.” – Patrick Power, Ten Pound Fiddle Coffee House

"Ralston is the songwriter I want to be when I grow up!" - Drew Nelson, Singer/Songwriter

"Carwreck Conversations has all the trappings of a wise sage in storytelling mode without resorting to bitterness or preachy choruses. Lyrically clever and musically catchy, music hasn't addressed mid-life with this much dignity since Neil Young's Freedom.” – The Boston Globe

“One of West Michigan’s best singer/ songwriters” - The Grand Rapids Press
