Blue
Jello w/ Luke Sayers and Mark Iannace

The Lansing based duo Blue Jello is a
side project of Mystic Shake's Ben
Hassenger and Pat Malloy.
artwork by Dennis Preston
Mystic Shake has been rhythmically jesting with fans for well over
10 years inthe Greater Lansing area and has played at venues as
diverse as The Michigan Festival, The East Lansing Art Fair, The
Cappuccino Café, Schuler’s Chapbook Café, and the Ten Pound
Fiddle. They've found airtime on the "Dr. Demento Show" as
well as on FOX Sports and National Public Radio
In addition to writing songs for possible use in film, television,
and other applications, Ben & Pat perform as Blue Jello on a
regular basis and are working on a soon to be released CD, Life
is Good.
Life is Good will feature ten fun songs for the young at
heart of all ages. The tunes cover a variety of styles and
themes, from melancholy monkeys, to dogs with bad breath, and gold
fish that dream about the big world outside the glass. A
special treat is the African-influenced version of "Put A
Little Love in Your Heart," featuring Tim Thelen on percussion,
and Annie Capps and Jen Sygit on background vocals. Tim will
be joining Ben and Pat for this concert.
Since
leaving Tangerine Trousers in late 2004, Luke
Sayers has worked hard establishing himself
throughout the country as a singer/songwriter. The former bassist, a
songwriter, singer, and acoustic guitarist for the Trousers
was the only Michigan artist selected to showcase at the 2006
International Folk Alliance Conference in Austin,
took first place in the Great
Lakes Songwriting Contest, and received two Detroit
Music Award nominations.
Mark Iannace has been 'practicing' the medicinal art of music for
quite some time now. A veteran of the Detroit music scene and the
folk circuit, Mark has performed in many different avenues ... from
contemporary folk, to musical theatre, to vocal jazz.
He was also a major force in the Tangerine Trousers signature 3-part
harmonies, as well as sweetening up the pie with a unique accordion
style.
Luke
and Mark are working hard on a new CD and are ready to break loose
for this live show. Mike Gabelman will join them on the drums.

"The flavorful folk on this
five-song CD (Long Way Back) by Sayers and Iannace weaves
together blues, rock, country, jazz and bluegrass, with the
duo's bang-up harmonies at times recalling Barenaked
Ladies." - John
Sinkevics, The Grand Rapids Press
"Luke Sayers has a powerful,
passionate voice, and it's put to good use on the heartfelt,
beautifully written tunes on his new CD (Long Way Back)."
- Martin Bandyke, 107.1FM Ann
