Williams w/

Bizer
Christopher
Williams last performance at Trinity House Theatre was nearly two
years ago.
The newly-married songwriter returns with a new CD to share
with new and old fans alike.
"I love being in front of an audience
with just my guitar and drum, trying different things musically each
night," says self-taught Williams, who is one of few
singer-songwriters to deliver his songs on guitar as well as djembe.
"I try not to make a plan and instead let the moment decide where
I am going because that is where the real music comes from. It's
funny...playing the djembe started as one of those moments - just a
whim and it's now turning into a direction. Not just a direction as a
sideman supporting others, which is a great card to have in my back
pocket, but as an integral part of my solo show."
Over
the last few years, Williams has not only opened for
but accompanied such renowned performers as David Wilcox, Peter
Himmelman, Bruce Hornsby, Patty Larkin, Tom Rush, Ellis Paul and Lucy
Kaplansky.
Williams placed second in the 2000 and 2001 Telluride
Bluegrass Festival Troubador competition; won the Wildflower Festival
Songwriting competition in Texas in 1999, and was a finalist in both
the KRCL Songwriting competition in Salt Lake City in 1998 and the
South Florida Folk Festival in 1997.
Jim
Bizer’s songs are a unique blend of humor, catchy melodies, and his
own personal view of the essential craziness of being human - served
up with monster guitar playing and vocals.
His songs have quickly earned accolades: three times he has
been selected as a finalist in Kerrville Folk Festival's New Folk
competition and he was recently awarded the Grand Prize in the Great
American Song contest. Most recently, he was among the very first to
be invited to participate in the song competition at the 2004 Mountain
Stage NewSong Festival in Charlestown, West Virginia.
His latest CD, Connected, was released in 2004.
