Katy
Bowser
Songwriters have been dubbed the astronauts of human experience-
called to dive daringly into what they see and feel, and live to tell
about it. Katy Bowser has taken up the challenge wholeheartedly. Katy
has been playing across the US for four years, piquing the curiosity
and attention of audiences, coaxing them to look at things from a
different vantage.
Katy's latest offering is a boldfaced and poetic look at mystery,
relationship, pain, joy and waiting. This work is marked by a musical
and personal maturing, and a stylistic coming into her own. With a
smorgasbord of folk, rock, jazz and Celtic colors, Longing has been
called Americana in the truest sense of the music.
Longing is the fruit of a rich season of living, learning and
crafting. Katy's sophomore project is produced by Russ Long (Sixpence
None the Richer, Over the Rhine) and marked by the work of seasoned
players such as Chris Donohue (Over the Rhine, Vigilantes of Love,
Fleming & John), Ken
Lewis (David Wilcox, Phil Keaggy) Chris Grafagnino (Wes Cunningham)
and Kenny Meeks (Jan Krist, Phil Madeira, Sixpence, Buddy Miller).
The past year's touring highlights include a two week west coast tour,
a two week New England tour and a month on the road with grassroots
rock
band Waterdeep touring the east coast, to great response. Katy's music
has led Katy to feature performances at Gavin award-winning WNCW,
NPR's nationally renowned Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, Nashville's
historic Ryman Auditorium and Belcourt Theatre. Katy has contributed
songs to multiple compilations, including Awakening Vol. 3 and all
three of the Indelible Grace projects. Of course, she is still making
the rounds to
coffeehouses, clubs, colleges and listening rooms. Longing stirred
attention in circles both in and out of Nashville. However, Katy is
not waiting for her proverbial break. She is preparing for a return to
the
studio, and hitting the road again- putting her heart and art back out
on the line for old and new crowds alike.

"Katy Bowser is a
bit more progressive than most folk artists, but her
music is about as stripped down as it gets. Longing, the 2001
release from the talented singer/songwriter, does not focus on the
production or on the
image of the artist. Instead, the foundation of Longing is built
on the
set of strong songs."
