Michael
Blair with
Tree by
Leaf
Mike Blair formed the group Madison Greene in 1997. Since their
inception the group has been critically acclaimed for their ethnic
flavored aggressive acoustic style. They've had numerous packed house
performances at Trinity House. Many of Madison Greene's songs were
originally written on a guitar alone. Come see Mike do renditions of
Madison Greene songs stripped down to their original conception, as
well as some new ones.
Since 1999 Tree by Leaf has been touring the country and playing
summer festivals, carving the little inroads that place them deeply in
the heart and memory of their audience. With influences as divergent
as traditional folk and college rock, Tree by Leaf's music is all
their own. They have shared dates with a wide variety of musicians
including
Vassar Clements, Brooks Williams, Andrew Peterson, Sarah Masen, and
Tracy Grammar. The ragtag collection of energies and perspectives that
first coalesced on their 1999 debut album "Evening Treatise" and
continued on the expansive "Works of Mercy" in 2001 now lives on in
the still untitled new record, set for release in April 2003. Tree by
Leaf
continues to grow in musical stature and maturity. Written and
recorded in an rural atmosphere of sharp northern air, this is their
most passionate, clear sighted and thoughtful record yet.
