Tangerine Trousers
w/The Blue J's
John and C.J. Milroy formed Tangerin
Trousers in 1993 and have been collaborating ever since. They describe
their sound as "FolkRockoustic," which echoes the simplicity of life
stories, yet adds a deeper complexion of vocal and instrumental
arrangements.
The Trousers have developed a uniquely American sound by combining the
elements of folk, blues, country, jazz, pop, rock, gospel, and even
African music. The band's sound features strong 4 part vocal
harmonies, acoustic guitars, upright bass, accordions, flute, drums
and percussion, mandolin, dobro, musical saw, as well as lots of other
noise makers, which are highlighted by thoughtful, storytelling
lyrics. They've been honored with 12 Detroit Music Award nominations
over five years. They've been recording their next CD with legendary
producer Chris Stamey Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The Blue J's sound falls
on the Folk side of Roots-Rock. The group is led by Joel Palmer and
Jim Nicholls. Jim brings the Blues influence to the group after 15
years of playing guitar and harmonica, including time with Detroit
area favorites Mudpuppy and the Motor City Blues Project. Their first
CD Live at the Acoustic Avenue Coffee House was recorded in 1999.
